Hetchins Track Frame

I am truly amazed by the lugs on that Hetchins. Some may think they might have over done the lugs there, but i reckon that is pure originality. Jack Denny believed that by increasing the length of the lugs would make the frame stronger, so that gave him plenty of space to be creative with the lugs. The curving on the rear stays also acted to reduce vibration... Ive never been on one, but certainly would give a lot of time to! What also made this frame perfect is the lugs on the rear bridge.. i dont know why but to me it looks very victorian - absolutely beautiful. Just for a quick note: the owner's actually putting the pieces together so I wonder what would it look like when its finished... definitely would be something delicious!

Dont you just love thin sharp tubes with some depth cutting through the wind, hearing the wind swerving through the frame as you swerve on by the lane. here are some frames selling on the bay that i would say 'modern' (im not a big fan myself) but truely are something special - and also at a 'special' price, that is.

a nice mass-produced 54cm Fuji track frame including the 'hidden' headset. Deadly colourway. 11 hours left, bidding for a hundred-and-eighty-five quid.

and if you really get the Fuji, you might want this 49cm Corima for the missus. selling at two-thousand-dowars.. c'mon man, it has always got to be expensive if its for the missus.
Both look so innocent yet so eager.. they're in the need of some velo speed, so give it to them quick!

Beautiful lugs all around the frame. According to history, Sandy Holdsworth, masterbuilder of Holdsworth has been individually building frames for racers between the 1920s to 60s. After his death, Holdsworth became a company too large to build the need of individual racers, they started to mass-produce Holdsworth, making worthy steel tubes into a pity soulless frame. Now the company's so big they started their own clothing line. Brilliant!

Here is an astonishing 3Rensho track frame:

THAT is beautiful

Yoshi Konno (Yoshi Miyakawa), masterbuilder of 3Rensho frames, is known to be quite an innovator back in his days. Started off unbrazing Cinelli frames after the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, his craftmanship soon got well sought and from there his career built him into a masterbuilder! and by looking at that marvelous track bike, his brains are most likely ahead of everyone else! Sadly, his precise craftmanship has been paralyzed due to a serious car crash and therefore, if you see a 3Rensho, empty your wallet without thinking because there will be no more of 3Rensho frames.

A personal customer of his which then became his very own apprentice was the ten-time Sprint World Champion, Koichi Yamaguchi. Koichi was trained as a masterbuilder, by a masterbuilder, to whip up some pretty edgy frames and by 1987, Koichi went to the United States and founded his own bicycle company, Yamaguchi Bicycles. Surely, Yoshi Konno gave him tips no other builder might have known. This is evident by looking at Yamaguchi's confident frames and 3Rensho would definitely be one of the company's references.
Finish with the biography, on to the frames. Up top is a very good example of 3Rensho's precise craftmanship of a track frame. However, if you wanna see true skills put into play by well known builders, time trial frames were meant to be fast'er' and therefore, would give a never ending 'wow'ness to your lives. Dont you just love people who gives so much love to their bikes ESPECIALLY their spares? This babe has been on a VIVALO NJS Track Frame (which is now selling on the forums for £400) for more than a year. And look at the condition, looks like its been used for a couple of weeks!

Originally it was hooked up on some nice profile anodised purple bars. Its arguably a riser - you can see a slight rise on the bars, but is actually straight bars. Proper purple grips so comfy as it would only get comfier by the day, or shall I say, the year!

Dear readers,

Due to severe freshness, I am not able to keep my mouth shut. Friend got swag [fullstop]. He copped the best looking golden Alan off the bay for chips not even with salt and vinegar. Bear in mind that these fancy sweeties are now anti-produced, so for a price of two hundred quid, this ones a very, i repeat - VERY rare and yet a good buy.

Re-polished vintage Campagnolo headset and Alan's authentic lugs. Superb condition.

Smooth 51cm Alan frame. Swinging for AZNs as the seatpost would be set high and give a wow look.

This came all the way from Aberdeen, Scotland, to be finished and ready to be ridden by its lucky owner. Check my flickr for more detailed pics.

What might come on it is the golden Nitto Jag Stem which came off the Makino, Campagnolo Crankset and aero seatpost. The friendly Brooks. And a B43 rear fixed wheel for comfort and would feel like singing in the rain riding through London's traffic and its vast chaotic roads.

GAZELLE Low Profile Cinelli Approved Track Frame Made In Italy.
i just had to get all those capital letters in.

I got the frame already set up as a bike - a beautiful bike it is! A bit of paint chips and little surface rust here and there, but really it adds a bit of attitude to it. The Cinelli frame is paired with an unknown 700c fork, therefore, the lo pro geometry doesnt stand out and wouldnt give its astonishing original look.. so for now, the looks still aint for show yet, itll need a swinging 650c fork hooked up before we can do all that. then finally, the final touches will be made to complete the perfection it deserves.

How innovative and original is that.. Set ur camera on a slow shutter speed and let your gestures lead a light as simple as a LED light and be creative! How I adore your creativity, Picasso:

Analysing this image for a bit would make you realise that a figure of a woman is projected(Picasso's best). This would be very technical as it wouldnt be visible to bare eyes. Maybe about 4 shots of tequila might help you get yer eyes to this stage. Other than that, i noticed theres a theme for the scheme. the oriental clothing that he has on compliments the background as well as the high saturation of the gloomy purplish pink atmosphere which also creates an elegant and romantic feeling to the image itself. such manic inspiration Id say..

Well, its actually been days after completion. Tried it out on the Bridges Ride, and felt smooth as fuck..

Very minimal clearance on the ITM forks since a 28c tire is bein used. Actually, when i do trackstands on it, the tyre tend to be touching on the fork walls, so its quite tricky at times.

Beasty-killer look. scary...

Sugino Crankset along with Toshi Straps. And to top it off, Vertex chain.

In conclusion, so far this is the best road bike Ive ever been on. The Makino felt alot more tight and solid hence being a track frame. The Puch frame IS relatively heavier than the recent frames but the frame feels absolutely resilient. With thick tyres, brooks saddle, comfy Toshi straps, and a Cinelli Sesamo stem with home country inspired colours, altogether make this a very enjoyful and comfortable which is ridden with pride. NICE.

Proposal: Sepeda Merdeka - The Freedom Bike. [bikes]

Ok, since ive been selling both my Ammaco bike as well as the Makino, my legs are made pedal-redundant and therefore, i need to build up a bike for myself, and fast.

That'll be the 'ol Puch frame from the world war 2 which was most sought. Also, the Indonesian-colours inspired stem, Cinelli Sesamo, will be hooked up on the bike along with some ITM Spider Carbon Forks - which makes that a Post World War 2 bike with a twist of the future. Some nice red hubs like Goldtec, Miche Track will act as sweeteners to the bike, but definitely not Phil hubs, thatll just stretch the budget too far..

Got some HALO Freedom discs from the forum quite a while ago, and i think that is what inspired me to build 'Sepeda Merdeka' - The Freedom Bike. With a rim width of 19 and 28c thick Vittoria road tyres, the bike is going to ride smooth and freely on rougher terrains.

Single gear. Cruiser brakes. The best thing on earth for relaxation, man. Cruise whenever it feels good, and pedal back by a bit to make it go brake. The geometry of the bike is super comfortable, now I know why the call it the beach cruiser.. it literally feels like the beach, except on a bike. Beautiful as heaven.

The starting bid was £30.. and the buy it now was £100. posting was 12 quid.

...So I concluded, firstly, it is a Rossin frame. Secondly, it has columbus tubing. thirdly, its bloody CHEAP for the frame itself!... about 5 seconds after visualising goodness.. called my mate who was gonna build the WW2 frame up, and told him to catch it as he always dreamt of a lo pro and it was his size. So the bird was caught...

Took off to the Herne Hill Velodrome track this morning and the ride there was nice.. nice up hills, and nice down hills.

A: home. B: Herne Hill Velodrome Track. Didn't took too long to get there, but a lot of climbing up and kicking back on downhills so that was the warm up really. Once there, took picZ:

Went through the basic induction section which was most needed for my first time riding on track,,, YES, it was my very first time riding my track frame, on an actual velodrome track! went through a bit of briefing.. and then those who aint got track bikes with down handlebar and no brakes cant go in, so friend had to borrow one while mine went swiftly through.. Take me to the bikes!

TRACKBIKES HEAVEN GALORE

There were like about 8 containers full of track bikes including a workshop in one of em.. Most of the vintage frames that i saw were Harry Perrys and Harry Os.. the modern ones were mostly Fuji, Kona and loads more! I just wanted take one and act like its mine.. hehehehe but how am I supposed to take 2 track bikes from south east back home???

Very few of the candies were produced and right when it was introduced on the 1st of April, people in SF and NY were MAD about them and eventually sold out in a few days. Friend got swag yo! he stored one of the HUF for lucky people like me. And when it's all gone.. HERE IT IS! RESURRECTED! yoo wanna piece of it, huh?

thats my iphone in there which means this bloody bag is BLOODY BIG!

After trying it on and setting up to my size, I have to say this is the most comfortable courier bag my back has ever worn.

The density of the padding supporting the shoulder and the rib cage is just perfect! I've tried it with some quite heavy stuff inside (thick books&laptop) and its still comfortable to wear! it doesnt feel as if the straps were pulling back on your shoulder like most bags would. A MASTERPIECE OF SCIENCE MIXED WITH ART!

So, this morning before I went to bed, I stumbled upon a blog which has a link to a forum that I have been loooong searchin:

Sepedaku.com (which in English means MyBike.com) is a forum that specifically concentrates in the cycling communities in Indonesia. And there is no doubt that Fixed Gear has had make their successful entry into the country. Here's some of the fixed bikes gathered from the site:

these are a couple of many bikes i found on the forum. Obviously there's a lack of pretty much everything over there, still not able to get hands on the proper authentic fixed gear stuff.. and when Im saying stuff that aint authentic.. They actually put up a thread to discuss about ways to drill hubs and make it fixed gear.. keepin it real, brovaz!!

Cinelli Pinocchio? [bikes]

Just got a lovely Cinelli stem from BLB - it was the last one there, used but worth only 10 quid. They said it came back from the 1980s, and during the time, only little were produced. I dont know exactly whether there are more colours available but an anodised stem with an innovative design coming back from the 80s would be pure genius and most likely expensive back then! Polished it up to reveal its true vintage colours.. - which really reminds me of the Indonesian flag and that's another strong reason why i bought it! Then took pics:

Its a lovely stem isnt it? looks sharp and futuristic! have to say that this was definitely a good buy not only for the stem but also what happened today.. This could be a reminder of the Ritz Carlton & Mariott Hotel bombing which happened at about 8.30am..

But then again, i'd rather not be reminded to that... Back to the topic: So what im really curious of now is.. Brick Lane Bikes said that the stem is a Cinelli Pinocchio. but then i did a brief image search on google and found a quill stem. It may be the vintage version? maybe not? or maybe the older version of Cinelli Alter??

Right here is a dramatic puch frame i had stored for about over a year. I got this frame from Hackney and now is sold to a friend of mine, Dana. Just now i got my curiosity on the Puch and finally had the motivation to search it on the net, and what I found was mind-blowing. Puch only start re-producing bicycle frames after 1949 and until the 1970s. And looking at it, it looks like it came from the early 50s. Pics:

The frame is quite heavy. But theres absolutely no doubt it is weak, its stiff as a bull. Would need a lot spirit-soaked wipes to get the rust off then we gona spray paint the frame metallic black but leave the front lugs in its raw metal state. Some chromed forks are gona go on this one so I reckon it'll be tough lookin with some blingin..

Summer: Time for Lo Pros [bikes]

Not really.. most of the tricked up bikes come out during the summer anyways. all kinds like: cruisers, bmx, roads, tandems, lo pros, track bikes and a lot of odd looking bikes that doesnt work like a bike! Some, where you lay down and your hands actually controls the rear wheel and we pedal the front wheel.. God, I forgot what the name was, but it does look more disastrous than it sounds.

Back to topic: Lo Pro! YES.. friend decided to have a lo pro geometry for his bike, and what is even better, he decided to build it up with me! So, here's the frame: Handbuilt and brazed by Orbit with Reynolds 531 tubing. SHWING!

I think, ill give that another SHWING!

The plan is, paint the frame metallic purple kinda like the Motorola Razr's colour, i dont know which type exactly but he showed me a picture of that particular phone with a lovely glowing metallic purple. Armourtex in hackney must have that colour in their catalogue, i reckon. So we'll give that a try. Then, a 650c fork is gonna be hooked up on so that a 650c wheel(obviously) could fit there. And due to the never ending want of less spokes,, Spinergy with their 8 spoked carbon wheel didnt do the justice for him. But an Aerospoke definitely will :D. Furthermore, silver HALO rims are coming into the frame as well as some sweet Nitto Bullhorns. Ok, time to close our eyes and imagine what it'll look like.. imagine.. oh, imagine.. might as well turn on John Lennon singing imagine if youd like

But then I just got these blue UNO handlebars off a friend from the forums for quite cheap. Hooked it on friend's bike to give it a bit of colour.. and now the bike looks like it came all the way from France..

In my point of view, the message that the artist is trying to send us is that the people who are Livin La Vida Loca (Livin glamorously like someone Loco), are not always happy. As you see the paintings, at first you would maybe realise that this is what it is like in the glam life when youre celebrity mate's are all horny and dont have anything to do. Then, secondly I imagined that i would be grateful being surrounded by all these beautiful people with beautiful dresses which looks even more beautiful undressed. But then again, WATCH their faces. This is what Terry Rodgers might have capture correctly and all of this can be based on his own experience. In my opinion, their faces are defined and resembles arrogance, lust, boredom, hatred,.. pretty much all the words you can think of relating to a huge amount of 'want'. There are no naturally shining faces with big grins and smiles laughing their ass off just for the joy of having a beer and being together. Ultimately, it looks the opposite and that it is probably worth £5million more expensive... Basically, the typical Rock 'n Roll lifestyle on a canvas..

Remember the raw metal finished frame from days ago.. turned out that my friend was the one who won it. Kidnapped the frame, brought it home, and made good good looovin like marvin,, heres some pictures of the night:

Unmistakably a beautiful frame which is even more stunningly gorgeous from close. The frame is columbus tubing, its the first time i held a columbus tubed frame and it feels very rigid and surprisingly light! It looks as if the frame was painted before it was turned into this state. I can see strips of colours of blue on and around the frame and a bit of green on the fork. Seems like the frame has been sand blasted to get this certain look, then, the owner most likely got bored of cycling and bought a Audi R8 or something, hence the frame was picked up from west London. I dont know what is the make of the frame but definitely sure was something done with a lot of effort and would worth a lot of monies!

So yeah, man its all good. The frame is residing at my workshop for now as we are trying to figure out ways to build it. What is most definite is that friend is gonna hook up some Nitto RB-21 bullhorn bars on there. I got a 38cm one, so that should work fine with swerving through the tight traffic of London.

The dilemma is, friend already has a 52cm Peugeot frame, and he's thinking whether if he should build this bike from scratch and sell the Peugeot as a whole bike. OR use the old stuff hooked on the Peugeot on this particular frame and sell the Peugeot frame only. I recommended him to build from start so he has a full custom bike with reference to his likings. But obviously it would cost more money and more time.

you those wheel protectors you get.. when you order a wheel off the net and have it posted home, usually youll get like 2 rubber like ends that holds the axle of the rims so it stays and not wander around inside the box... So yeh, anyways, I tried hooking that to a 26mm straight handlebar, put some grips on.. and now it looks strangely funky? i dont know, thats how i describe it... what do u think?

then maybe you can hook on some random stickers on it!

Well, thats a nice looking cruiser bike.. maybe if someone asked it with that particular frame and cruiser brakes, that'll be a tight looking bike. But it doesnt have to look like that! it doesnt always have to have a basket in front! most of the reasons i get from them is that so they can put their shopping in the basket or whatever uncarriable whilst riding.. thats a good point! but when youre only looking to suit your style i think the vintage bikes would look best on probably most fashion backgrounds:

Environmentally-friendly, but Financially-fiend [bikes]

Summer has hit. I can see bicycle commuters all around London town in their masses. And as the love for bikes grows, so will the love for mother nature.

And then suddenly, a company called The Calfee, decided to go over the limit and build these..

MTB Calfee.

it looks surprisingly quite astonishing knowing that it's made from Bamboo and Hemp (what? Hemp? GANJA that's more like it) fibres. The bamboo is freshly picked in remote mountains of Taiwan's Yushan National Park, which is then shipped on water to California. This is where the bamboo stems are smoked and heated so it doesnt split. Once that's done, the bamboo stems(which now are tubes) are joined with the others with lugs made of hemp fibre (LEGALISE IT). Then, to top that all off.. it is coated in a satin polyurethane sealant. The frame of the calfee weighs about the same to the metal ones, but the thing is, its not drinking our Earth as much.

It's all good cause I've got several points to mention about bamboo:

It's the fastest growing plant. Some bamboo species can grow about 1.5 meter a day. Nevertheless, four or five years is needed to have the right quality to build a bike.. and each bike requires only around 3 meters of bamboo.
Bamboo absorbs greenhouse gasses five times more than conventional trees that we usually see in boring westernised parks.
Also, if everyone start to ride this bike, it would make the whole hectic city, feel like a beach town, feel like living in the tropical weather, feel like home.

So I read some reviews here and there, and found that smoked and heated bamboo absorbs more vibrations out of rides than any other material. They are also more flexible than carbon fibre, however, i don't think they'd be as strong as carbon.

You see, all this sounds so nice doesn't it? OK. Now let me tell you the bad news. First of all, they cost 3000(three-thousand) sterling fucking pounds. Straight away it made me think that this is a fucking intimidation in progressing process! So they want the rich to be environmentally-friendly and leave all the poor to be the bad-guys to Earth? FUCKING POLITICS, man. Bamboo's clearly the fastest growing plant in Earth. Dedicate one whole fucking country to plant only Bamboo trees and then you'll be able to give the whole planet Earth a Calfee. You see, us cyclist we need to work together to intimidate the CAR DRIVERS or more like the VAN DRIVERS out to history, not the other way around!!

At the present, this whole Bamboocycling at 3k quids for being eco-concious still aint making sense and still aint worth the understanding. I mean c'mon, man.. even the NJS approved frames are by far cheaper than these Newbies called Calfees.

Sometimes don't you realise that the most beautiful things can be so simple yet SO STRONG!?

Abus's link lock aint like any other locks. I mean look at it. They went out of the box, came back in and created a beauty! This would look so fixed if each links were to be coated in different bright colours, like a rainbow for the you-know community, or maybe just one nice colour for all the links.. oooh, that would be a huge trend. Would definitely look better when holstered on thy belt than the Kryptonite's one. Another good thing about it is that all you need is the link lock and a memory of 4 digits. That's it, man. To be honest, i think theres more insecurity when carrying a key. I have the ABUS Granit and that requires a key to get it opened. I've lost one already, so now im left with my last one. At random times i'd like to check if I have my key or not, and that is what makes it uncomfortoble. But a memory wouldn't go anywhere.

But then again, that looks ugly doesn't it? And i bet it'll scratch the paint if its set on the same part of the bike. I heard that before you actually lock the bike and links up, when it's loose, it is loose, man. The link would fiddle around and make it frustrating to lock cause the weight of the links plus the momentum would just make it swing. Quite annoying.
